Region 5 Block Design Collective Support (25R5-D15)

This program is intended to support the regional promotional and educational activities of the Region 5 Technical Director to be hired through the National Design Center proposal. This program will ensure that the Regional Technical Director has the needed tools and resources to maximize their impact in the AEC community to increase the use of CMU.

Region 4 Block Design Collective Support (25R4-D14)

This program supports the regional promotional and educational activities of the Region 4 Technical Director to be hired through the National Design Center proposal. This program will ensure that the Regional Technical Director has the needed tools and resources to maximize their impact in the AEC community to increase the use of CMU.

Region 3 Block Design Collective Support (25R3-D13)

This program is intended to support the regional promotional and educational activities of the Region 3 Technical Director to be hired through the National Design Center proposal. This program will ensure that the Regional Technical Director has the needed tools and resources to maximize their impact in the AEC community to increase the use of CMUs.

Region 2 Design Assistance Help Desk (25R2-D16)

This program will identify specific, individual, architects and engineers in 42 metro markets. It will populate a contact management data base as a tool to promote Masonry Design Help LLC and deliver specific, targeted e-mail campaigns to promote masonry design assistance. Additionally, it will help recruit and maintain a contract staff of qualified design assistance professionals. Finally, it will secure a distribution agreement for NCMHA Direct Design Software and for Masonry IQ Design Software.

Masonry Framed Homes (25R2-D02)

Goals associated with this program include creating a from the ground up platform for the building community and the public to have the resources in one place to build concrete masonry framed homes.

Region 1 Block Design Collective Support (25R1-D11)

This program will ensure that the Regional Technical Director has the needed tools and resources to maximize their impact in the AEC community to increase the use of CMU. A primary function of this endeavor will include the development of a contracted design assistance network through which, during the early stages of design, AEC’s will be given project-specific guidance to reduce their legwork and help to promote the benefits of CMU’s.

Concrete Masonry Building Core Design (24R5-010)

This program will include the development of the first version of a concrete masonry stair and elevator core design guide. Additionally, this program will include the publication and distribution of simple design tables that can be used by design engineers to quickly, easily, and efficiently design reinforced concrete masonry cores. It will focus on adapting a guide for local properties in Rocky Mountain and Northwest regions and promoting the use of the design guide and the use of concrete masonry cores through presentations to structural engineering groups.

National Design Assistance Network (057-2023)

The program will establish a national resource hub and anchor it with the newly established network of regional technical representatives to help eliminate the hurdles affecting the choice of concrete masonry as the first option in structural systems amongst the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) communities.

Impact of Construction Type on Initial Cost of Construction and Building Insurance Cost Multi-Residential Structures  (015-2023) – REGION 1

This program will develop a construction cost model to accurately evaluate the relative construction cost of a multi-residential building constructed using 6 different construction materials: wood framing, light gauge steel framing, masonry walls/precast floors and ceilings, precast construction, ICF walls with precast plank and ICF walls with ICF floors and ceilings. Both builder’s risk and property insurance will be addressed as well as the 10-year cost to the eventual building owner.

Masonry Framed Homes Program (052-2023) – REGION 2

This program is designed to grow the footprint of masonry framed homes outside the Florida market in the southeast by creating a dedicated digital platform for masonry framed homes that includes the subelements of HVAC, electrical and plumbing.
