Riley Dvorak Hired as the National Design Director

Visionary Design Center Closer to Reality for Concrete Masonry Checkoff (CMC) with the Addition of Riley Dvorak.

The Concrete Masonry Checkoff (CMC) announced July 19, 2024 that civil engineer Riley Dvorak has joined the organization as National Design Technical Director.

Dvorak will spearhead the creation of CMC’s visionary Design Assistance program, a virtual destination where architects and engineers can access complimentary concrete masonry design services. A Minnesota native, Dvorak’s first order of business will be helping to appoint regional directors across five U.S. regions. Together, Dvorak and his team will collaborate closely to sculpt a cohesive strategy and define the operational goals of the center.

“This is an exciting opportunity to get our design assistance program and plan review off the ground so that designers feel more comfortable using concrete block,” said Dvorak. “If we can get people to be a little more analytical in their decision process, that can greatly benefit our industry and infrastructure at large.”

A civil engineering graduate of Minnesota State University Mankato, Dvorak spent more than a decade at Rinker Materials, a manufacturer of reinforced concrete pipe, box, bridge, and other related infrastructure products.

“Riley’s depth of knowledge and experience will serve CMC well as we make our design assistance program a reality,” said Kim Spahn, CEO, CMC. “Our organization is fortunate to have his talents at the helm of this exciting project.”

CMC’s newfound technical director role coincides with the realities of worsening weather extremes and the need for safer, more resilient construction across the country.
