This program would include the development of a one-hour presentation specifically on the design strength of concrete masonry walls to be shared at the Structural Engineers Association of Michigan (SEAMI) annual conference. The presentation would incorporate the 2016 TMS 402/602 building code requirements that are being adopted by the 2018 and 2021 International Building Codes in multiple states. The presentation will also include design examples of walls for out-of-plane loads, such as wind loads and in-plane shear loads. The presentation will promote the economical design of concrete masonry walls since over-design is prevalent in Region 3.
