Board Member Spotlight: Erik Absalon

Meet Erik Absalon, a member of the Executive Committee for the Concrete Masonry Checkoff Board, and President & CEO at Basalite Building Products, LLC, in California. With more than 30 years of experience in the construction/masonry industry, Erik hopes to create better representation of concrete masonry unit design in architectural and engineering curriculum at the university level.

“I am very excited and proud to be a member of the team forming the foundation of the Concrete Masonry Checkoff Program. With the efforts of everyone involved, I am confident that our industry is in good hands and will prosper for years to come.”

Question of the Week:

Q: Will the DOC send some official document to our business directly about this program and our legal obligation to meet assessment guidelines?

A: No, the DOC will not be sending information surrounding assessments. The Concrete Masonry Checkoff Board of Directors has the responsibility to notify producers on all things related to the checkoff. To date, we have shared information through our weekly e-blasts, direct mail, partner newsletters, trade media and webinars. We also have an information packet shipping to producers next week, arriving before the start of assessments on April 1st.
